Pointe dancing or dancing on the tip of your toe is part of classical ballet technique, a prima line of ballerinas. Ballet, usually comprise of movements, good placement (or alignment), and turnout, ballet puts great emphasis on the method and execution of movement dancing on the tip of the toe was introduced into ballet nearly as early as the dance classic itself and has since remained a lasting practice in ballet.

En pointe developed from the inclination for dancers to appear weightless and supported in air for an extended period of time. Dancing En pointe evolved and was formulated for both male students and female ballet dancers, but for most scores the female dancer do pointe dancing complimented by the male counterpart's half and demi pointe dance prints.

Aspiring ballet dancers would likely jump to basic pointe dancing at first step but some very important things should be taken into consideration;

preparing for pointe dancing, age is taken into keen consideration, because serious foot deformities can result from starting pointe too early, pointe dancing is usually started or better started at age 12. At this age the dancer's feet have become well formed, and solid enough not to sustain permanent injuries from strains, endangering hopes of pointe dancing or ballet.

However Some ballet teachers don't attach a number at all to the requirement of students who want to start pointe dancing, they simply rely on ability. Some check for correct body position and alignment, sufficient turnout, strength and balance, and mastery of basic ballet techniques. To them it is the cautiously earlier the better.

And again pedicures are not for your pointe dancers, it is not advised for pointe dancers to cut and peg because the dead skin and calluses on the feet are helpful and act as insulation against the strain of the pointe shoes. But of course you are allowed as much as toenail clipping

Another consideration pointe dancers should take into is the fact that it takes quite some time to master the technique, so willing ballet dancers must devote substantial amount of time to practice en pointe.

Lastly you must be physically fit, whether you are above the required age or not, you must be tested for healthy physical conditions.
